Choose your train...

Steam Train

Experience the romance of steam for your special occasion and enjoy the journey behind one of our steam locomotives.

There are two options:

  • If you choose an evening where the locomotive has been used for public trains earlier in the day we can offer a preferential base rate of £550.00 for a return journey from Wirksworth to Duffield.
  • If you wish to travel on a date where the locomotive had not been used already, the hire rate is £1200.00.

Heritage Diesel Train

Whether you're an enthusiast or have a smaller budget, our beautifully restored heritage diesels offer a great evening in the valley.

There are two options:

  • If you choose an evening where the locomotive has been used for public trains earlier in the day we can offer a preferential base rate of £350.00 for a return journey from Wirksworth to Duffield.
  • If you wish to travel on a date where the locomotive had not been used already, the hire rate is £700.00.

  • Glass of Bucks Fizz at your table
  • Owen Taylor's Gourmet Burger served in a fresh white bun, topped with cheese, bacon & relish. Garlic wedges, onion rings & homemade slaw on the side.
  • Strawberry Eaton Mess for afters.

Set Menu C

  • Soup of the day
  • Owen Taylor's locally-sourced topside of beef with seasonal vegetables, homemade Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes & cauliflower cheese
  • Cheesecake of the day with fresh cream

Choose one of our celebratory set drinks menus, place an amount as a tab or let guests pay for their own consumption.

Bronze

  • A glass of Prosecco or Pimms as you board

Silver

  • A glass of Prosecco as you board
  • A glass of Pimms at your table on departure
  • 1/2 bottle of Carriage Wine served in a carafe

Gold

  • A glass of Champagne on boarding
  • A glass of Prosecco served at your table on departure
  • 1/2 bottle of Carriage Wine during the journey served in a carafe
  • A glass of Champagne at the end for toasts or speeches
  • Jugs of table water

Gin Special

  • A variety of four speciality gins
  • Four complementing tonic waters
  • Served with fresh fruit and ice

Useful Information

  • Please do not hesitate to discuss your special occasion with us if you have any particular requirements, including dietary requirements such as vegetarian, vegan or gluten free.
  • All Derbyshire Countryman private hires require a deposit of £250 payable upon booking. This deposit is non-refundable except where the train is cancelled because of Coronavirus.
  • The maximum capacity of the dining cars is 50 passengers split across two coaches. Service is spread between a combination of private compartments and an open style interior. As part of the 50 passengers we are able to accommodate two wheelchairs in the main saloon.
